Shavon Bell joined The Common Good as an intern in the summer of 2014, desiring to see firsthand some of the inner workings of the political arena as well as return home to New York. She is a rising sophomore at Brown University studying Political Science and Art History. Although many would consider the two subjects to be completely disparate and unrelated, Shavon sees them as sharing one deep commonality- providing a window into a society’s fundamental value systems. Further, this multidisciplinary approach to analysis also carries Shavon through her extracurricular activities. She is a writer for the Brown Daily Herald, served as a menswear editor for a Brown fashion publication, and participated in both theater and student government in high school, among other activities. With an open mind and unending curiosity, Shavon is excited to see what other experiences and opportunities will inform her political philosophies and actions in the future.
