American Renewal Project
Dear Friend,
Welcome to The Common Good Forum — and the launch of our series on American Renewal.
As a history buff, I am in awe of the 250th anniversary of the revolutionary ideas our founders set in motion in 1776 — ideas that elevated the voice of the people and the principle of human equality into enduring values that Americans, and people around the world, still strive to honor today.
But our American Dream and even our values are under strain: housing out of reach, education that burdens the young with debt, vanishing healthcare and too-expensive medicine, childcare that remains a luxury for too many. And harder tests are coming — AI disruption of work, fraying alliances, mounting deficits, rising political violence, and a civic fabric stretched thin.
We need a new way forward.
In the months ahead, The Common Good will bring together established and emerging voices — people with deeply researched ideas, real-world experience, who can inspire and ignite a renewed belief in what this country can still achieve. We hope you will join in our conversations.
Warmest Regards,
Patricia Duff

For our first event and Town Hall, Governor Andy Beshear the popular, results-driven 63rd Governor of Kentucky, “leading his Trump-loving state while remaining the most popular Democratic state CEO in the country, making him an automatic contender for the biggest promotion in politics in 2028” joined us. (TIME) Ari Melber is an Emmy Award-winning journalist, MS NOW anchor, and host of “The Beat with Ari Melber” moderated.
Governor Beshear has distinguished himself by winning broad bipartisan support, delivering tangible results on jobs, infrastructure, and disaster response, and demonstrating a pragmatic, unifying approach that resonates well beyond party lines. Hear our ideas filled and captivating conversation with the Governor now!
Our stellar panel included three very sharp voices: Rana Foroohar, Financial Times’ celebrated columnist and award-winning author; Adam Mockler, the kinetic young debater; and Oren Cass, Founder and Chief Economist of American Compass. CNN’s John Berman moderated.
We welcomed Rahm Emanuel for the second major event in our American Renewal Project series.
Already being discussed as a serious 2028 presidential contender, the former U.S. Ambassador to Japan, White House Chief of Staff, Mayor of Chicago, and Congressman has begun rolling out bold, concrete ideas for America’s future — from fixing our education system and modernizing the military for a new era of warfare, to expanding skilled trades and helping veterans transition back into civilian life, and much more.
Emanuel has serious proposals to renew the nation — and a plan to put them into action. Hear for yourself.
