We were pleased to welcome Congressman Barney Frank for a brief discussion over coffee. Frank, who was Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee before Republicans took control of the House of Representatives in 2008, spoke about implementation of the financial reform he helped shape and other topics. Congressman Barney Frank is the U.S. House Representative for Massachusetts’s 4th Congressional District. Congressman Frank won his first full term to the House in 1980 and has been reelected each consecutive term since. In 1987, Congressman Frank became the second openly gay member of the House of Representatives. Following this the Congressman has been described as one of the most prominent LGBT politicians in the United States.
As Chairman of the Financial Service Committee in the US House of Representatives from 2007-2011, Congressman Frank played a crucial role in determining the financial future of our country. Last year, he helped pass the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, a new law that the Washington Post has called “the most sweeping overhaul of the nation’s financial regulatory system since the Great Depression.
