Meet & Greet: The Honorable Gordon Smith
The Common Good was pleased to host The Honorable Gordon Smith for a breakfast meet and greet to discuss his time at the five major Senate commerce, Science, and Transportation, Energy and Natural Resources, Rules, Indian Affairs, and the powerful Finance Committee.
Gordon Harold Smith is a former United States Senator and businessman from the state of Oregon. A Republican, he served two terms in the Senate. Ideologically centrist and republican in name. He has served in the senate, Smith has earned a Republican Main Street Partnership who has supported gay rights extending domestic partner benefits to federal employees, and who supports stem cell research however still staunchly pro-life.

The Common Good was proud to host an intimate breakfast with the Honorable Kathleen Sebelius for a Meet and Greet and to discuss health care in the country.
Kathleen Sebelius has been a leader on health care, family and seniors issues for over 20 years. Today, as the country’s highest-ranking health official, Secretary Sebelius is guiding the implementation of the historic Affordable Care Act. She is also at the forefront of the Obama Administration’s efforts to build a 21st century health care system, from putting a new focus on prevention to promoting electronic health records to expanding the primary care workforce. Under her leadership, the Department of Health and Human Services has also played a leading role in meeting some of the country’s biggest challenges of the last two years, providing critical support to families during the economic downturn and coordinating the U.S. government response to the H1N1 flu.

The Common Good was proud to host Israel’s Ambassador Dan Gillerman for a luncheon and an informal discussion on the Mideast region.
Dan Gillerman was Israel’s 13th Permanent Representative to the United Nations. He was appointed in July 2002 and assumed his post on January 1, 2003, serving through 2008. Gillerman served as the CEO of several Israeli companies, Chairman of the Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce, member of the board of the First International Bank of Israel and Director of Bank Leumi and the Bank of Israel. He also served on the Prime Minister’s National Economic and Social Council, the President’s Committee of the Coordinating Council of Israel’s Economic Organizations, as Chairman of the Israel-British Business Council, and as member of the executive board of the International Chamber of Commerce of the World Business Organization.
