TCG Leadership Series
A conversation with
Congressman Don Bacon (R-NE)
The rare leader who puts principle over party
Join us Wednesday, December 10th from 3:55PM - 4:45PM on Zoom
Rep. Don Bacon represents an increasingly rare profile in Washington: a Republican willing to challenge his own party on matters of national security, governance, and political integrity. He has openly criticized President Trump’s handling of Russia and Ukraine, pushed back on executive overreach and tariff authority, and resisted pressure from MAGA-aligned factions. His record includes supporting bipartisan legislation—from the infrastructure package to the January 6th Commission—and taking principled stands that isolated him within his caucus, such as calling for the resignation of a Trump-appointed defense secretary and rejecting partisan-driven bills he viewed as unserious.
Bacon even said he considered resigning early over the latest proposed Russia-Ukraine peace plan, underscoring the extent of his concern with the party’s direction. As he opts not to seek re-election, he brings a candid, insider perspective on what it means to govern in a loyalty-driven environment—and what is lost when integrity is pushed to the margins.
